Egyptian president makes phone call to Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu

CAIRO - 1 January 2023: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi congratulated in a phone call Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on assuming office and on forming a new government.

The presidency's spokesperson indicated in a press statement that the call tackled bilateral relations as well as developments on the regional and international levels.

The president stipulated that Egypt continues to work on the Palestinian Cause, mainly the pacification between the Israeli and Palestinian sides, and desired resumption of negotiations.

The Egyptian president further asserted the importance of achieving just and comprehensive peace, as that would contribute to accomplishing security and prosperity for all peoples in the region.

President Sisi equally noted that the salience of avoiding any measures that would increase tensions, and complicate the regional scene.
