Egypt launchs 4-day vaccination campaign against polio

CAPITALS OF GOVERNORATES, Dec 11 (MENA) - Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population announced on Sunday launching a four-day national campaign to vaccinate children against polio as part of its efforts to maintain the country’s polio-free status.

The campaign will end on Wednesday and aims to vaccinate both Egyptian and non-Egyptian children residing in the country free of charge.

Egypt has been declared polio free since 2006 in accordance with the standards set by the World Health Organization, with the last case recorded in 2004.

Vaccination will take place across the country through the ministry’s offices, health centers and medical units.

Medical units will also be set up in large squares, train and metro stations and bus stops and also near mosques, churches, sports clubs, markets and public parks across the nation.
