CAIRO – 16 July 2017: The heat wave that Egypt has faced since Friday will break on Monday, according to the Egyptian Metrological Authority (EMA) in a statement Sunday.
The mild weather will prevail until the end of this week.
“The heat waves increased to the temperature of 41 degrees Celsius,” said the director of the Metrological Analysis Center Ahmed Farouk. He also added that the temperatures will decline by 1 degree Celsius daily until Thursday. It will return to the normal 35 to 37 degrees Celsius.
“This wave will be repeated throughout the summer to have temperature higher than spring’s temperature,” said Chairman of EMA Board of Directors Ahmed Abdul Aal.
“Low and middle clouds appears in coastal regions,” he added.
The highest temperature in Cairo was 38 Celsius degrees and lowest was 27 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature in Alexandria reached 34 degrees Celsius and lowest was 25 degrees Celsius. In the Mediterranean city of Matrouh, the temperature reached a high 32 degrees Celsius and its lowest was 25 degrees Celsius.
The EMA warned citizens not expose themselves to sun rays for longer period of time in the afternoon. The EMA also advised to drink water continuously, and to avoid sitting in closed areas without ventilation due to high humidity.
