WASHINGTON - 16 July 2017: The deputy assistant to President Donald Trump, Sebastian Gorka, hailed the liberation of Iraq's Mosul as a milestone in the fight to crush Daesh terrorist group.
He credited Trump's foreign policy and the leadership of Defense Secretary James Mattis for helping Iraqi forces retake the city from Daesh, according.
Gorka said "we went from an Obama policy of attrition to one of annihilation under Secretary Mattis."
The US official stressed the importance of enhancing ties between Washington and Moscow so as to overcome terrorism and restore stability in Syria.
