For the first time, the United Nations Conferences of Parties allocated a pavilion for youth and children to empower and indulge them in climate action, said the Egyptian Presidency of the COP27.
The pavilion also aims to make the children and youths’ voices heard, to become part of the climate decision making, the statement added.
The attendees of the pavilion are COP27 Youth Envoy Omnia el-Omrani; CEO of CIFF Kate Hampton; Deputy Executive Secretary of UNFCCC Ovais Sarmad; Executive Director of CIFF (Africa) Faustina Fynn-Nyame; and Coordinator of the Mesoamerican Alliance of Peoples Nancidalia Ramírez Domínguez.
Over the period of the conference, the pavilion, which is being run by young people, will host events and working groups, to provide networking opportunities and policy briefings.
The conference's thematic day on youth and future generations will be held on November 10. The day will be opened by the youth-led climate forum, followed by another session on climate change threats to health, nutrition, education and the future of children.
