CAIRO – 5 November 2022: UAE’s President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed will take part in the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) that will kick off in the Red Sea resort of Sharm El-Sheikh on Sunday and runs till November 18.
UAE Ambassador to Egypt Mariam al Kaabi said her country will take part in the international event by a high-level delegation, stressing that her country is preparing for hosting COP28 next year.
More than 100 chiefs of state and representatives of states are due to take part in the event in addition to 45,000 people representing delegations and participants.
More than 3,000 journalists and media professionals from around the world will cover the event.
A significant number of media outlets will be broadcasting the conference proceedings from Sharm El-Sheikh, including Reuters, Associated Press, Agence France-Presse, Bloomberg News, Fox News, in addition to news agencies from Russia, Italy, China and others.
French President Emmanuel Macron, US President Joe Biden and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will be attending the conference.
Sharm El Sheikh has finalized all needed preparations for receiving guests of the "summit for maintaining peace on planet”.
The COP27 will focus on urging developed countries to fulfill their climate commitments and turn climate pledges into action in all fields of climate action.
COP27 focuses on providing solutions that make climate action help solving community problems and crises, UN Climate Change High Level Champion for Egypt Mahmoud Mohieldin said on Sunday.
The Sharm El Sheikh airport is on alert for receiving the summit guests.
Also, a number of buses was secured to transfer guests to their hotels.
Dozens of chiefs of state and representatives of states are due to take part in the event in addition to 45,000 people representing delegations and participants.
