CAIRO - 4November 2022: Egypt’s ambassador to Norway, Amr Ramadan said Friday that the Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Støre, will head to Cairo along with a high-level delegation, in response to President Sisi's invitation to participate in the climate summit [COP27] on November 7 and 8. 2022.
Ambassador Ramadan explained that, in his meetings with Norwegian officials, he had noticed the prime minister and his government’s interest in the conference and its side events, as well as their keenness to follow up on the Egyptian initiatives presented to the conference, especially in the fields of renewable energy and food security.
Ramadan noted that due to the positive development in relations between the two countries following President El-Sisi’s meeting with the Norwegian Prime Minister on the sidelines of One Ocean Summit in Brest on February 11 this year, the Norwegian Prime Minister is looking forward once again to meeting President Sisi.
It is also expected to sign in Sharm El Sheikh implementation agreements for two projects; One of them is in the field of renewable energy to produce 3 million tons per year of green ammonia in Ain Sukhna in two phases, and the second is to generate electricity with a wind energy capacity of 5 gigawatts in Upper Egypt. Norwegian investments in the two projects amount to LE280 billion.
