CAIRO – 4 November 2022: Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi said that Egypt is on the cusp of a historic event by hosting the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27), set for the Red Sea resort city of Sharm el Sheikh from November 6 to 18.

COP27 will bring together the parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

In statements on Friday, Radi said that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi will inaugurate the conference that will be attended by several heads of state and government, as well as experts to discuss consequences of the global climate crisis and means to adapt with climate change and provide funding for green projects.

He noted that the president is expected to give a speech during the opening of the event that draws up a roadmap for a better future for mankind a suggests mechanisms to implement previous climate pledges.

The president will also participate in a number of activities as well as high-level meetings concerning green transformation initiatives worldwide.

He will also hold a number of meetings with world leaders participating in the conference to discuss means of boosting bilateral ties and the current regional and international topics of mutual concern, topped by the issue of climate change.

This year's climate change conference has four main objectives:

- Mitigation: keep the 1.5 degrees global warming target, compared with pre-industrial levels.

- Adaptation: witness an enhanced global agenda for action on adaptation.

- Finance: review progress on the delivery of dlrs 100 billion per year by 2025 to help developing countries deal with the adverse effects of climate change.

- Collaboration: ensure adequate representation from all relevant stakeholders in COP27, especially vulnerable communities
