Egypt’s Sisi congratulates Iraqi new Prime Minister for gaining parliament confidence

CAIRO- 30 October 2022: President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi congratulated Iraqi new Prime Minister Muhammad Al-Sudani on gaining the confidence of the Iraqi parliament and forming the government, Egyptian spokesman for the Presidency Bassam Rady said in a statement.

The congratulation was expressed during a phone call Sisi made with Al Sudani on Sunday.

President Sisi affirmed Egypt’s firm support for the security and stability of Iraq, expressing pride in the close and historic fraternal ties that unite Egypt and Iraq, said Rady.

President Sisi also voiced his country’s keenness to advance bilateral cooperation between the two countries to broader prospects.

The Iraqi Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for the congratulations of the President, praising the depth and strength of the strategic relations between Egypt and Iraq. He also affirmed mutual interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields, and appreciation for the Egyptian efforts in support of the Iraqi issue at all levels.

Both sides exchanged views on a number of Arab and regional issues of common interest, as well as the Egyptian-Iraqi efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation, especially through strengthening the efforts of the joint higher committee between Egypt and Iraq, or at the level of Tripartite cooperation mechanism with Jordan.
