Egypt’s Sisi congratulates Giorgia Meloni for assuming role as Italy’s PM, invites her for COP 27

CAIRO – 24 October 2022: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi congratulated Ms. Giorgia Meloni for assuming the post of Italian Prime Minister, said the Egyptian Presidency in a statement on Sunday.

“I would like to congratulate Ms. Giorgia Meloni for assuming her role as Italy's prime minister, wishing her success in leading Italy towards a future that befits its civilization and history,” President Sisi said in a Telegram.

“I look forward to working with her to enhance the Egyptian- Italian ties within the framework of the well-established partnership between Egypt and Italy across all fields. I would also like to invite Ms. Meloni to participate in the World Climate Summit (COP 27) in Sharm El-Sheikh next month, as I am confident that the Italian republic is capable of playing a positive and constructive role during the upcoming summit.
