CAIRO - 19 October 2022: State Minister for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates' Affairs Soha El Gendy reviewed Tuesday with Egypt's Mufti Shawki Allam the need to promote the important role of Egypt's Dar al-Ifta among Egyptians living abroad.

During a meeting on the margins of Dar al-Ifta 7th International Conference of Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, the two sides also discussed the need to enhance cultural awareness among young Egyptian expats, focusing on renewing the religious discourse, upholding the principles of citizenship and sense of belonging, while rejecting extremism and ideological polarization.

Allam presented a copy of a book titled: "Fatwa and Climate Change," issued by the conference as part of ongoing preparations for the global climate summit, COP27, Egypt will host in Sharm El Sheikh next month.

Meanwhile, Gendy commended Dar al-Ifta for launching a new app called "Fatwa Pro" during the closing session of the conference.

The multilingual app will serve as a communication channel between Dar al-Ifta and Egyptian expats, especially those living in English and French-speaking countries.

Dar al-Ifta 7th International Conference of Fatwa Authorities Worldwide kicked off on Monday under the theme: "Fatwa and Sustainable Development Goals," with the participation of scholars and muftis from 91 countries, along with representatives of the United Nations and the World Health Organization.
