Abdul Latif Rashid new president of Iraq

BAGHDAD - 13 October 2022: The House of Representatives elected Thursday Abdul Latif Rashid, as President of the Republic after having obtained the majority of votes in the second round of the voting process for the position in which he competed with candidate Barham Salih, reported the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

The Media Department of the House of Representatives said in a statement that "Rashid won 162 votes, while Salih won 99 votes and 8 were considered invalid, out of the total number of voters of 269 deputies."
