CAIRO – 6 October 2022: Egyptian and Qatari health ministers agreed on exchanging expertise in the health sector in a meeting in Doha, the Egyptian Health Ministry announced in a statement on Thursday.

Egypt’s Minister of Health Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and his Qatari counterpart, Hanan Al-Kuwari, met to discuss furthering cooperation on the sidelines of the World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH) in Doha.

As per their cooperation, Qatar will use the Egyptian experience regarding the health initiatives to test citizens for a number of diseases, including Hepatitis C and breast cancer, the statement said.

Egypt, for its part, will benefit from the Qatari experience with regard to applying comprehensive health insurance and digitization, the statement added.

Egypt and Qatar have hugely developed their relations over the past period with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani vowing to strengthen relations between the two countries in various fields.

In September, Prisedent Sisi made an official two-day visit to Qatar’s capital for the first time per the invitation of Qatar's Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

President Sisi's visit to Doha came as a “culmination of the intensive mutual discussions between the two brotherly countries during the recent period to strengthen the frameworks of joint bilateral cooperation at all levels,” the Presidency explained in a statement.

Sisi and Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad al Thani witnessed the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between Egypt and Qatar.

Among the signed agreements between the two countries is a MoU between the Sovereign Fund of Egypt for Investments and Development and the Qatar Investment Authority.

Another MoU was signed between Egypt's Social Solidarity Ministry and the Qatari Ministry of Social Development and the Family in the sphere of social affairs.

Meanwhile, an MoU was inked between the two countries on cooperation related to the ports sphere.

In an interview with Qatar News Agency last month, Sisi said his visit to Qatar reflects the development witnessed in the two countries' relations over the past period and the sincere desire by their leaderships to deepen cooperation to serve their national interests.

The visit also mirrors the two countries' true desire to boost inter-Arab solidarity and activate joint Arab action to preserve regional security and stability at the current stage, the president added.
