CAIRO – 4 October 2022: Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Tuesday met with President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo Felix Tshisekedi, stressing that Egypt is keen to boost ties with its fellow African country.
The meeting was part of the foreign minister’s visit to the Congolese capital to take part in ministerial meetings in preparation for the 2022 United Nations climate conference (COP27).
Shoukry conveyed the greetings of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Tshisekedi, lauding the great coordination between Egypt and DR Congo, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abo Zeid said.
Egypt is committed to supporting DR Congo in domains related to capacity building and sharing of experience in different fields, Shoukry reiterated.
Egypt pays much attention to prioritizing the climate-related needs of the African continent to ensure having guarantees for realizing the aspirations of African peoples on this score, the minister said.
Shoukry also reviewed Egypt’s efforts to contribute to maintaining stability in the region, particularly in DR Congo
