CAIRO – 19 September 2022: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi lauded the depth of ties binding Egypt and India, asserting Egypt's keenness on promoting cooperation with India in the military and defense fields.

This came during President Sisi's meeting Monday with Indian Minister of Defense Rajnath Singh, in the presence of Defense and Military Production Minister Mohamed Zaki, Indian Ambassador in Cairo Ajit Gupte, Additional Secretary at the Indian Ministry of Defense Nivedita Shukla and Private Secretary to Defense Minister Alok Tiwari.

In statements, Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said President Sisi, during the meeting, conveyed his greetings to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, praising the historical ties between Cairo and New Delhi.

Sisi also expressed Egypt's keenness on boosting cooperation with India in the military and defense domains, along with activating partnership between the two countries, the spokesman said.

For his part, the Indian defense minister conveyed the Indian premier's greetings to President Sisi, asserting his country's keenness on promoting ties with Egypt, under the leadership of President Sisi, the spokesman added.

The minister also underlined Egypt's crucial role in fighting terrorism, a matter that reflected in the security and stability in Egypt and the whole region, the spokesman said.

The minister stressed that his country is looking forward to exchange expertise and consolidate military and security cooperation with Egypt, the spokesman added.

The meeting also took up means of boosting military and security cooperation between the two countries, particularly with regard to cooperation in manufacturing, transferring and localizing technology with the aim of exploiting the capabilities and infrastructure available in the two countries, according to the spokesman.
