CAIRO – 18 September 2022: Egyptian Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry will head to New York to participate in the high-level segment of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, which will start on September 19, said Egyptian Foreign Ministry in a statement.
The new session of the General Assembly is being held this year under the title " A watershed moment: transformative solutions to interlocking challenges” like climate change, the global food and energy crisis, the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, Egyptian spokesperson Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid said.
“Egypt will play an important role during this session in addressing all these issues and challenges, especially since it is chairing the next conference of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (Cop 27),” he added.
Foreign Minister will participate in a number of high-level meetings and events, in addition to bilateral meetings with his counterparts of foreign ministers and international officials, Rady said.
Shoukry will also participate in the ministerial meeting of the Munich to discuss ways to advance the peace process in the Middle East, the meeting of foreign ministers of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Measures in Asia, and a ministerial meeting on “Water to achieve food security.”
The Egyptian Foreign Minister will take part in a ministeral breakfast that includes the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jordan, Iraq and Yemen, besides the ministerial meeting of the Aid Coordination Committee for the Palestinian People AHLC.
He also will participate in the ministerial meeting to support the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees “UNRWA” and the mini-committee on Yemen, as well as the ministerial meeting of the Forum of Ancient Civilizations headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq.
