CAIRO – 9 September 2022: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi inspected the construction work of a number of ongoing development projects of the roads and bridges infrastructure in Greater Cairo on Friday, said Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady in a statement.
During his inspection tour, President was keen to refute what has been circulated recently regarding dealing with some historical cemeteries and areas amid the ongoing construction and development of some roads southern of Cairo.
President Sisi stressed on the importance of not being drawn into the “deliberate skepticism and malicious opinions of some parties that seek to discredit the tremendous efforts exerted by the state,” said Rady in the statement.
It was circulated recently that the tomb of late Noble laureate for litreature Naguib Mafouz would be removed by the government for a construction of road after a photo became meme on social media showing word “To be demolished” written on the tomb. However, the Egyptian government denied these “claims.”
Egypt seeks to make a balance between mitigating the effects of pollution emitting from vehicles and facilitating traffic by improving the streets, ith putting into consideration the protection and preservation of historical sites through many innovative solutions such as building bridges without removing them, Rady said.
The President was reassured on worker’s conditions in the different locations and listened to their views, Rady continued.
