CAIRO – 5 September 2022: Foreign Minister and President Designate of the 27th session of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) Sameh Shoukry has reviewed the vision of the Egyptian presidency toward the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference (COP27).
This came during Shoukry's meeting Monday with President the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP) of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) Alain Richard Donwahi.
The foreign minister also probed means on enhancing climate change-linked international efforts at all levels, particularly the procedures related to adaption and mitigation along with implementing climate pledges and turning them into a reality on the ground.
Shoukry underlined the importance of coordination efforts between the UN conventions on climate change, combating desertification and biodiversity, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid.
During the meeting, Shoukry also congratulated Côte d'Ivoire for the successful hosting of COP15 of UNCCD, which was held in Abidjan in May, added the spokesman.
He also welcomed the recommendations issued during COP15, which will be discussed during COP27 Conference in Sharm El Sheikh in November, added the spokesman.
Donwahi, for his part, voiced keenness on holding coordination with Egypt in order to attain the joint goals of the two international agreements, according to the spokesman
