CAIRO -21 August 2022: Egypt’s Court of Cassation upheld sentences of imprisonment against 21 members of the banned group of Muslim brotherhood on Saturday.
 
 
The court of cassation rejected all the convicts’ appeals against their previous verdicts that were handed down by a Torah court.
 
 
The previous rulings included life imprisonment (25 years) against 14 convicts each, 15 years in prison for 6 convicts each, 10 years in jail for another convict.
 
 
They also will be put under police surveillance for three years, the court ruling added.
 
 
In 2016, convicts were charged with a number crimes of planning to target some vital places in the state such as high-voltage towers and electrical transformers in Manial and Talbieh disticts, Giza.
 
 
They also faced charges with carrying out terrorist operations against policemen, judges, and armed forces, to incite chaos inside the country. Also, they face charges of joining a banned terrorist group.
 
 
As per the investigations conducted by the State Security Prosecution, the police forces raided the convicts’ house where they found 16 bombs, besides matrials for using explosives.
