CAIRO – 13 August 2022: Dr. Reda Hegazy was announced Saturday as the new Minister of Education succeeding Tareq Shawky.
The Egyptian Parliament held an emergency session Saturday, where it approved a cabinet reshuffle that includes 13 new ministerial portfolios.
The parliament approved the appointment of Dr. Reda Hegazy as Minister of Education, based on the letter sent to the House of Representatives regarding the new ministerial reshuffle, following President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s invitation to the parliament to convene.
Dr. Reda Hegazy is the former Deputy Minister of Education for Teachers’ Affairs.
He officially assumed Saturday the position of Minister of Education and Technical Education, after working on many important files in the ministry, most notably the high school file and training teachers on modern learning strategies in order to provide education at an outstanding level for all students at all educational levels.
Who is Reda Hegazy?
Dr. Reda Hegazy was born in 1959 and held many positions, the last of which was the position of Deputy Minister for Teachers’ Affairs, He was previously the vice president of the Public Authority for Adult Education and director of the Regional Center for Adult Education.
Dr. Reda Hegazy headed the command of the general secondary exams operations room for years and took many measures that end the era of "cheating.”
Previous Achievements of Dr. Reda Hegazy
The new Minister of Education participated in setting national standards for education in Egypt and preparing science curricula for the fourth primary and first preparatory grades in accordance with the new education philosophy that focuses on understanding, and not memorizing.
At the beginning of his career, he worked as a professor of chemistry, and also worked as a doctoral professor in the Training and Media Department at the National Examination Center, and participated in the arbitration of many master’s and doctoral theses in a number of universities.
