CAIRO – 26 July 2022: After a long wait for around 15 years, Egypt’s Kafr el-Sheikh governorate, in Delta, will inaugurate soon its first oncology center that is aimed to end the suffering of thousands of patients in the governorate, and neighboring governorates.
Before the center was established, patients used to head to oncology centers in Tanta, Mansoura and Mit Ghamr to receive treatment.
A total of 2,000 meters of distance was allocated for establishing the center, and it was increased twice to be 8,856 squared meters.
Dr. Yasser Emara, Director of the Oncology Center, said that the construction of the new National Cancer Center in Kafr El-Sheikh is completed, and it is ready to be opened within days, at a cost of one billion and 200 million pounds. The center is currently affiliated with the Specialized Medical Councils Authority of the Ministry of Health and Population, which provided the financial funds to complete the construction after it was affiliated to one of the NGOs.
“The center will contribute to serving patients from the governorate instead of traveling to other governorates to receive treatment, which will save them and their families any suffer,” Dr. Emara added, stressing that the center includes the latest medical devices and x-rays to detect and diagnose tumors, and treat patients.
Amr El-Bashbeshi, Deputy Governor of Kafr El-Sheikh, said: the center includes all medical specialties related to the treatment of oncology patients, and it consists of a ground floor, in addition to six floors, besides 67 rooms for accommodation. The building consists of emergency departments, clinics, radiology, radiotherapy, chemotherapy for children, intensive care, operations, endoscopy, and laboratories.
