Egypt offers condolences for death of four expats in Cyprus

CAIRO – 25 JULY 2022: Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs offered condolences to the families of four Egyptian victims who passed away in fires that broke out in some Cypriot villages several days ago, said the Ministry in a statement.

 

Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs and Egyptians Abroad Ambassador Salah Abdel Sadiq offered his condolences during a meeting with some relatives who were handed down compensation approved by the Cypriot government, the statement said.

 

The meeting was also attended by two members of the House of Representatives, Dr. Ihab Ramzy, e Abdullah Ali Mabrouk, and Cyprus' ambassador to Egypt Homer Mavrommatis, and a representative of the Egyptian Church.

 

This, Ambassador Sadiq thanked the Cypriot government for the measures it took, stressing the depth of relations between the two countries, the statement continued.

 

On July 3, the Cypriot Interior Minister Nicos Nouris said that four Egyptian nationals were found killed in forest fires close to Odou, a village in the Larnaca District of Cyprus Reuters reported.
