CAIRO - 5 July 2022: Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Acting Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar received Paolo Argano, CEO of an Italian company specialized in the field of medicine, and his accompanying delegation, to discuss means of cooperation between the two sides.
At the beginning of the meeting, the minister stressed the state's interest in settling the pharmaceutical industry in Egypt, as a top priority, noting that Egypt has great experience in the pharmaceutical industry, and produces about 80 percent of the local market's needs of medicine.
Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar added that the Egyptian state supports all serious efforts in the field of developing the pharmaceutical industry in Egypt, to which the political leadership attaches great importance.
During the meeting, the minister listened to a detailed explanation from the Italian side about its plan to invest in the field of medicine in Egypt, and to meet the Egyptian local market of medicines that are imported from abroad.
For his part, the minister directed the Italian side to visit one of the Egyptian factories in the field of pharmaceutical industry, as well as to monitor the needs of the Egyptian market for medicine.
For his part, Paolo Argano expressed his happiness with the joint cooperation with the Egyptian side, by pumping more Italian investments in the field of medicine, which comes within the framework of the distinguished relations between Egypt and Italy.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, Secretary of the Supreme Council of University Hospitals, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the meeting discussed ways of cooperation between Egypt and Italy in the areas of producing medicines needed by the local market, which are imported from abroad to be manufactured in Egypt.
