CAIRO – 29 June 2022: King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa said Bahrain’s position matches with the Egyptian efforts to settle the disputes in the region as he met on Wednesday with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
Sisi met on Wednesday at Sakhir Palace in the Bahraini capital, Manama, with King Hamad as part of the president’s visit to Bahrain during his Gulf tour.
During the meeting, the king stressed on the coherence of the Egyptian and Bahraini national security, saying that Egypt will remain Bahrain’s pivotal partner in the region, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi said.
King Hamad expressed the pride of the Bahraini government and people for the strong historical ties and close relations they have with Egypt and its people in various fields.
The king stressed Bahrain’s deep appreciation for the strategic and pivotal role Egypt plays under the leadership of the president in protecting Arab national security and defending the issues of the Arab nations.
Sisi hailed the strength and specificity of the Egyptian-Bahraini relations, affirming Egypt's keenness to develop close bilateral cooperation and coordination for the benefit of the brotherly peoples of the two countries and the Arab world.
During the meeting, they discussed various aspects of bilateral relations as well as consultations regarding the developments of a number of international files.
In this regard, the president stressed that solidarity, unity of Arab ranks and consistency of positions are among the most effective ways to ward off external dangers from the Arab world.
The two leaders also exchanged views on the imminent convening of the upcoming summit between the Gulf states, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq and the United States, which is scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia.
Sisi and Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa witnessed on Wednesday the singing of cooperation agreements and MoUs in various fields, including investments.
According to a statement by Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady, the agreements and MoUs signed include fields of economic, scientific, and technological cooperation as well as investments and boosting exports.
In addition, the agreements include fields of legal and judicial cooperation, holding exhibitions, protecting environment, education, and air and maritime shipping.
Sisi also met on Wednesday with Prince Salman bin Hamad, the crown prince and prime minister, as part of his Gulf tour that included Oman earlier this week.
During his meeting with Prince Salman, Sisi hailed the Egyptian-Bahraini cooperation and coordination as a main pillar of regional stability and highlighted Egypt’s keenness to develop cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
Prince Salman hailed the relations between Egypt and Bahrain and also praised the role played by the Egyptian community in Bahrain in the process of development and construction.
The prince affirmed Bahrain’s keenness to develop cooperation with Egypt at various levels and to hold period consultations between the two countries on various issues.
