CAIRO – 27 June 2022: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi offers his deepest and sincere condolences to Chairman of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant-General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, and to the Sudanese government and people on the death of seven Sudanese soldiers along borders with Ethiopia.

 

“The President prays Allah the Almighty to grant them the highest place in paradise as a reward for what they have sacrificed for their country. The President also extends his heartfelt condolences to their families,” said the Egyptian Presidency in a statement on Monday.

 

Khartoum has accused Addis Ababa of kidnapping and killing seven Sudanese soldiers and a civilian in the disputed border area of Fashaqa, summoning the Ethiopian ambassador in Sudan to denounce the killing of soldiers and the civilians, SUNA reported.

 

Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Al Sadek told the Ethiopian ambassador that Khartoum has the right to respond to this act in “the appropriate time,” adding that Sudan has sent a complaint to the United Nations Security Council and called for hold Ethiopia accountable for this “aggression.”
