Egypt to launch ‘Safe Media for Kids’ initiative against homosexuality

CAIRO – 23 June 2022: Egypt will launch the “safe media for kids” initiative confronting ideas that promote homosexuality, presented in Disney-produced programs and movies, said the head of the Supreme Media Council Karam Gabr on Wednesday.

The initiative aims to assure that movies and series targeting children will suit their age stage, he added in comments to the CBC channel.

Egypt “will not allow the promotion of abnormal ideas that some international companies disseminate in the West,” he said, adding “Our religious rules and feelings must be respected, and no country is allowed to impose its culture on us under the pretext of [human rights].”

Numerous countries of the Arab world, like Egypt, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, banned Pixar's animated movie “Lightyear,” as it promotes homosexuality.
