CAIRO - 18 June 2022: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli on Saturday paid an inspection tour of the under-construction projects in New El Alamein City on the North Coast.
He was accompanied by Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Assem El Gazzar and Chairman of the New El Alamein City Development Authority Wael Samir.
Briefing the prime minister on the progress made in the ongoing projects, Gazzar said the current investments in the city, which occupies a total area of 48, 917 feddans, are divided into three main segments, namely utilities, housing, and services.
The first segment includes a water desalination plant, a 3-phase treatment plant, electrical transformers, a compressed natural gas (CNG) plant, wastewater pumping station, and utility networks, the minister said.
He added the housing segment includes the Downtown blocks, beach towers, El Alamein Marina Towers, Downtown towers, a compound built over 700 feddans, the Latin District, Sakan Misr and special housing units.
Meanwhile, the service segments includes an entertainment area, Alamein International University (AIU), a maritime academy, a city of arts, an elementary school, and a tourist walkway, the minister pointed out.
For his part, Samir said progress rates of irrigation, drinking water, sewage, rainwater drainage, and gas networks has exceeded 90 per cent in some areas; while the 3-phase treatment plant, which has a capacity of 90,000 cubic meters per day, is 95 per cent complete.
