CAIRO – 18 June 2022: Egypt’s Telecommunications Regulatory Law punishes unlawful intentional interception of radio waves by imprisonment and fine.
The law stipulates the penalty for those who perform any act of disruption to communications and affect the service, in addition to the confiscation of the equipment used in the violation.
In the below lines, et will review the law regarding this violation:
Whoever intentionally, without the right, intercepts or jams radio waves assigned to others, shall be punished by imprisonment for a period not exceeding six months and a fine of not less than twenty thousand pounds and not exceeding fifty thousand pounds, or one of these two penalties.
In addition, the court shall rule for the confiscation of the devices and equipment used in the commission of the crime.
Whoever violates any of the provisions of Article 42 of this law shall be punished by imprisonment and a fine of not less than twenty thousand pounds and not exceeding fifty thousand pounds, or one of these two penalties.
In addition, the court may order the removal of works that were carried out without a license and that resulted in damage to the course of the telecommunication networks. The removal is carried out with the knowledge of the violator within the period specified by the administrative authority.
In the event of his failure to implement it, the administrative authority or whoever entrusted it shall do so. In all cases, the removal is carried out at the expense of the violator.
Whoever violates any of the provisions of Articles (30 and 39) of this law shall be punished by imprisonment for a period not exceeding three months and a fine of not less than five thousand pounds and not exceeding twenty thousand pounds, or either of these two penalties.
