CAIRO – 2 June 2022: Egypt’s Consul in Port Sudan Farouk Shahata has followed up on the installation of the dialysis machines provided by Egypt to the Sudanese-Egyptian section of the dialysis center in the eastern Sudanese city.

The Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD) dispatched a technical expert who already completed the installation and maintenance work of the dialysis machines at the Port Sudan center.

This is in addition to conducting a training session for Sudanese technicians on the repair and maintenance of the dialysis machines.

The Egyptian and Sudanese sides have agreed on expanding the dialysis center within the framework of enhancing cooperation between Egypt and Sudan in the medical field.

Consul General also discussed with the director of the planning department at the Sudanese ministry of health in the Red Sea state opportunities to enhance joint cooperation in the field of health during the coming period.

The Sudanese official praised the existing cooperation in the health sector between the two sides within the framework of the established historical relations and ties between Egypt and Sudan.

Egypt has been keen to support the health sector in many African countries, including contributing to the establishment of medical departments and training Sudanese cadres.

In October last year, Minister of Health Hala Zayed affirmed the political leadership’s keenness to support African brothers in all fields, as she participated in the inauguration of AFRI Egypt medical center in Jinja, Uganda.

In 2018, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry inaugurated the dialysis unit Egypt offered to the Juba Teaching Hospital in South Sudan.

Amid the pandemic, Egypt has called for fair distribution of coronavirus vaccines to developing countries, especially the African states, and announced future plans to export its locally-produced vaccines to the countries of the continent.
