CAIRO – 25 May 2022: Head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) mission in Egypt Laurent de Bock praised Wednesday Egypt’s efforts in receiving and hosting millions of refugees.
This came during the reception of Al Azhar grand imam Ahmed el Tayyeb to de Bock, where they discussed the preparations for the international forum for migration and religion, due to be held in February 2023.
El Tayyeb and de Bock also probed boosting cooperation for supporting refugees and migrants, in addition to reinforcing values of tolerance, and coexistence.
Al Azhar is keen on raising awareness on the issues of refugees and migrants, el Tayyeb said, adding the Sunni institution is always prodding all the bodies concerned to solve the problems of refugees and provide them with all needed support to face their challenges.
De Bock expressed IOM appreciation to the role and efforts of Al Azhar and its grand imam in supporting migrants and refugees.
