Chadian national defense min. hails Egypt’s efforts to establish security in Africa

CAIRO – 14 May 2022: Minister Delegate to the Presidency of the Council for National Defense, Veterans and War Victims Daoud Yahya hailed Egypt’ efforts to establish security and stability in Africa.

In a meeting with Egyptian Minister of Defense Mohamed Zaki in Egypt, Yahya hailed Egypt’s efforts in support of the African continent in a way that achieves the ambitions and aspirations of African people, the Egyptian Army spokesman said in a statement on Saturday.

Yahya expressed his aspiration for further coordination with Egypt on issues of mutual concern.

The meeting between Zaki and Yahya tackled developments in the regional and international situation in light of the current challenges.

The meeting also reflected an understanding on the important of increasing military cooperation between the two countries in many fields.

Zaki affirmed his pride in the strategic partnership relations that link the Egyptian and Chadian armed forces in various fields, especially defense and security, stressing the importance of coordinating military efforts between the armed forces of both countries.

Osama Askar, Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, and a number of leaders of the Egyptian and Chadian armed forces attended the meeting.

Last week, Zaki and Michael Erik Kurilla, commander of US Central Command (CENTCOM), discussed issues of regional security of mutual concern in a meeting in Cairo.

During their meeting, Zaki and Kurilla discussed means of deepening military cooperation relations between the armed forces of Egypt and the United States, a statement by the Egyptian Armed Forces spokesman said.

The CENTCOM commander affirmed the US appreciation of the partnership relations and extended cooperation between the armed forces of both countries.

Kurilla affirmed his aspiration that the coming period witnesses further joint cooperation in military fields, according to the statement.

The US commander praised the pivotal role played by the Egyptian state in achieving security, stability and balance in the region, stressing the deep strategic partnership relations between Egypt and the US.
