CAIRO – 13 May 2022: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirms his country's full support for Tunisian counterpart Kais Saied in measures taken for political and constitutional reform, said Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli during his meeting with Saied at Carthage Palace in Tunis on Friday.
At the beginning of the meeting, President Saied conveyed his sincere greetings to his Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, saying that he [President Sisi] has all the appreciation and respect for saving Egypt in a difficult historic stage and for launching an urban and development renaissance.
The Tunisian President also praised President Sisi’s support for Tunisia during the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis, recalling President Sisi’s directives to supply Tunisia with all the medical supplies and medicines it needed, according to a statement from the Egyptian cabinet on Friday.
“Egypt's achievements and successes will remain a source of pride for us, and we want to join hands and cross together to a stage of growth and prosperity that meets the aspirations of our one people in all Arab countries,” Saied said.
He called for exploring and adopting non-traditional cooperation mechanisms that advance cooperation between Arab countries, expressing his welcome to what was agreed upon between the two sides during the work of the current session of the joint committee.
The Tunisian President affirmed Tunisia’s support for Egypt regarding the file of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, saying that Tunisia's security is part of Egypt's national security.
Egyptian Prime Minister briefed President Saied on what was agreed upon during his visit during which both countries agreed to hold a joint economic cooperation forum and launch a regular shipping line between both sides, in addition to announcing that the year 2022-2023 will be the year of economic cooperation between Egypt. and Tunisia.
Madbouly stressed Egypt’s keenness to transfer its expertise in the political and economic reform field.
The meeting was attended by Tunisian Prime Minister Najla Bouden, Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation and head of the Egyptian side of the Joint Ministerial Committee Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, ,and Ihab Fahmy, Egypt's ambassador to Tunisia.
The meeting was also attended the Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Trade and Export Development, the head of the Tunisian side in the Joint Ministerial Committee, and the Tunisian ambassador in Cairo.
