CAIRO – 12 May 2022: President of Sudan's Sovereignty Council Abdel Fattah Al Burhan hailed the strong relations with Egypt as historic and specials in a meeting with the Egyptian civil society delegation on Thursday.
Former Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed El-Orabi headed the Egyptian delegation and Egypt’s Ambassador to Sudan Hossam Eissa attended the meeting with Burhan, Egyptian Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported.
Burhan welcomed the delegation's visit to Sudan, noting that such visits contribute to strengthening relations between the brotherly peoples of the two countries.
Burhan also praised Egypt's supportive stances for Sudan in regional and international forums.
During the meeting, Burhan explained to the Egyptian delegation the current situation in Sudan and the efforts made to make the transitional period a success by achieving consensus that is acceptable to all Sudanese people.
This also includes free and fair elections in which the Sudanese people choose who governs them, he added.
In press remarks, Ambassador Orabi said the meeting was fruitful and positive, adding that the developments in the situation in Sudan were reviewed.
The delegation's visit to Sudan stem from the bonds of brotherhood and friendship that bind the two countries, Orabi said, expressing hope that Sudan achieves full stability.
Orabi added that the delegation was reassured about the overall situation in Sudan, explaining that “stability in Egypt will not be complete without stability in Sudan.”
The visits of the civil society delegation between the two countries will continue, Orabi said, stressing that such initiatives contribute to strengthening the foundations of popular diplomacy between the two brotherly countries.
