CAIRO – 9 May 2022: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry headed Monday to the Moroccan capital, Rabat, to examine ways of bolstering bilateral relations with counterpart and other high-profile officials.
As indicated by the press statement, the focus will be on economic collaboration and trade exchange. That is in addition to holding discussions on the international scene's developments, and consultations on regional and Arab issues.
"That is in the framework of coordination and exchanging views aimed at protecting the Arab national security, and pushing forward the prioritization of political solutions to different crises," the press statement reads.
Simultaneously, Minister Shokry will inaugurate the new headquarters of the Egyptian embassy in Rabat.
The latest overseas visit by Minister Shokry was held to Spain in April, upon an invitation of his counterpart Jose Manuel Albares, as they were scheduled to hold talks on all aspects of bilateral ties.
Meetings with other senior officials also took place, including one with the minister of ecological transition and the demographic challenge. That is in light of the growth in Egyptian-Spanish relations, and following up on the outcomes of the visit of Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez to Cairo in December.
The talks equally tackled preparations for COP 27 to be hosted by Egypt in Sharm El Sheikh next November, and boosting Spanish investments in Egypt as well as economic cooperation. The minister was also received by King Felipe VI of Spain.
