President Sisi directs pardon committee to reintegrate released prisoners into society

CAIRO – 4 May 2022: Egypt’s president Abdel Fattah al Sisi directed the Presidential pardon committee to work to reintegrate the released prisoners into their past careers and facilitating their return to the jobs they used to occupy before entering jail.

According to unnamed sources told Cairo 24 website, President Sisi also directed to facilitate the return of students to their studies again, whether in schools or universities.

The Presidential Pardon Committee has launched an online form to apply for the release of any prisoner per a presidential pardon.

The form demands the prisoner’s full name, ID, the number of the case and his governorate.

The person who fills the forms also needs to write down his full name, ID along with phone number and email for communication.

The committee also announced several other ways to demand the release of ay prisoner, including

 Sending requests by mail to the Human Rights Committee of the House of Representatives.

2 - Send requests by mail to the Senate Human Rights Committee.

 

3- Sending requests to the complaints committee of the National Council for Human Rights.

 

4- Send requests to the members of the Presidential Pardon Committee.

 

In April, Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi reactivated the ‘Presidential Pardon Committee’ which was formed as one of the outcomes of the National Youth conference, as it will expand its cooperation with the competent agencies and civil society.

During his speech at the Egyption Family Iftar,  Sisi expressed his happiness at the release of new batches of Egyptians during the past days, and stressed that the country accommodates everyone.

Sisi also directed the National Youth Conference management, in coordination with all political parties and youth currents, to conduct a political dialogue on the priorities of national actions during the current stage.

A day later, Egyptian authorities announced releasing 3,273 inmates via presidential pardons on the occasion of Sinai Liberation day.

Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine al-Qabaj also stated Wednesday that a list of 700 debtors has been prepared so they would be released from prison by a presidential pardon.

The minister noted that the selection was restricted to those who got loans to pay for essentials, and not just for unnecessary reasons. She added that 250 of those will even regain their freedom before Eid Al Fitr.
