Nearly 20K psychiatric services offered in 3 months: health min.

CAIRO - 4 May 2022: The Ministry of Health and Population said psychiatric services have been offered in a span of three months during 19,817 visits to hospitals and centers affiliated to the general secretariat of mental health and addiction treatment.

In press statements, Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said psychiatric treatment has been offered to patients in 166,307 visits to outpatient clinics throughout the country.

The official revealed that 43,269 civil servants have undergone drug tests, noting that teams from the general secretariat of mental health and addiction treatment have held seminars on the harms of smoking.

Training courses have also been organized for more than 200 doctors and nurses working at hospitals of the general secretariat of mental health and addiction treatment; with a view to enhancing their efficiency in dealing with critical addiction cases, he added.

On that score, the spokesman noted that the political leadership attaches great importance to the file of citizens’ psychiatric health.
