CAIRO- 1 May 2022: Egyptian Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad met on Saturday with the Ambassador of the Czech Republic Jacques Volek to discuss cooperation between the two countries for the upcoming the 27th Conference of Parties on Climate Change in Sharm El-Sheikh, said the Egyptian Ministry of  Environment in a statement.

During the meeting, the Czech ambassador thanked the Minister of Environment, expressing the desire of the Czech Minister of Environment Anna Hubáčková to hold a visit soon to Egypt to discuss a number of important environmental matters, especially in light of the Czech state's readiness to assume the presidency of the European Union in the second half of the year.

The ambassador also expressed that Hubáčková is looking forward to holding meetings with Fouad and the President-designate of the COP 27 and Foreign Minister of Egypt Sameh Shoukry.

Egypt is working on transferring Sharm El-Sheikh into a green city, by converting all transportation means in the city to work with electricity or natural gas, developing a waste management system, supporting hotels to obtain a green star and using solar energy. She added that the country would provide a set of incentives for companies, youth and civil society to support this transformation.
