CAIRO – 13 July 2017: As much as LE 1.1 billion ($61.3 million) will be allocated for the school feeding programs as part of the Ministry of Social Solidarity's school-based preparation process for the coming school year, Ghada Wali stated in press remarks on Wednesday.
Students will expectedly derive up to 30 percent of their daily nutrition from their in-school meals, Wali said, adding that they are considered an integral part of the Ministry's social protection programs given the important role in the children’s' well-being and health.
Earlier, Wali hosted a delegation from the International Bank, which comprised school feeding and social protection experts to discuss ways to scale up the school meals quality, and to discuss the possibility of the inclusion of mothers in implementing school-based meals.
During the meeting, both parties tackled the implementation of the school feeding programs in the United States and Columbia and how Egypt can adopt similar practices.
