CAIRO – 24 April 2022: First Lady Entissar al-Sisi called on Saturday the mother of three Damietta-born siblings who had died in an accident to express her condolences.
Aya, who was a pharmacist, and Alaa and Mahmoud Ahmed Othman, who were studying dentistry, drowned after their private car fell into Assalam Lake in Ismailia on the way from their university in Sinai on April 20. The fourth passenger, Mahmoud, was a close friend who survived the accident.
The First Lady told Doaa al-Shahat, the mother of the victims, that “there are no words describing the sadness and pain engulfing our hearts for this great affliction,” praying that they rest in peace and that God provides the family with patience and solace.
In a statement, Entissar al-Sisi said she found the mother to be an example of patience and acceptance, offering any support that would help her go through the tragedy.
The three young victims, 24, 22, and 19, could not swim, according to their friend Mahmoud. They are survived by three other siblings and their parents.
