et guide: All procedures foreigners need to know if applying for Egyptian citizenship

CAIRO – 21 April 2022: The Egyptian Nationality Law sets out many controls and procedures that regulate the process of granting the Egyptian nationality to foreigners.

In the below lines, Egypt Today highlights all necessary steps to be followed to submit an application to obtain Egyptian citizenship.

Among the most important requirements set by the law in the case of obtaining Egyptian citizenship for foreigners, are the following:

1. Applying through the website, provided that the required data and documents are completed.

2. The application shall be decided upon within a period of three months from the date of submission, provided that it fulfills the requirements.

3. One must pay a fee of 10,000 US dollars or its equivalent in Egyptian pounds, to be paid by bank transfer from abroad.

 4. The confidentiality of the application will be maintained as well as related decisions.

5. Upon the initial approval of the request by the Prime Minister, the applicant shall be granted the right to temporary residence in Egypt for a period of six months, in order to complete the procedures, data and documents necessary to issue the final decision.
