In a press release, the ministry said the forum will be held under the theme "Africa in an Era of Cascading Risks and Climate Vulnerability: Pathways for a Peaceful, Resilient and Sustainable Continent."
The ministry said holding the third edition of the Aswan Forum reflects Egypt's keenness to advance the Pan-African Action Agenda during the current sensitive stage witnessed by international relations.
In March 2021, the second edition of Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development kicked off virtually. The forum was organized by Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacebuilding and Peacekeeping.
This year's hybrid meetings at the forum will be held with both virtual participants and in-person attendees in Cairo.
It will discuss a number of important topics; boosting cooperation to combat terrorism, overcoming the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic, achieving food security, and pushing forward post-conflict reconstruction and development efforts.
This year's edition of the forum acquires a special place as it is an important milestone in setting the stage for the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 27) to the UNFCCC, which will take place in Sharm El-Sheikh in November.
