CAIRO – 15 April 2022: Egypt’s Minister of Endowments Mohamed Mokhtar Goma'a said that Eid prayers will be allowed to be performed in major and university mosques where Friday prayers are currently being held.
He added that the prayers will not be allowed to be held in public squares this year.
Goma'a affirmed that all of COVID-19 precautions measures will be applied during the prayers same as last year.
Egypt's Mufti Shawqi Allam said in earlier statements that the minimum rate of Zakat al Fitr is EGP 15 per person this year.
Allam said the rate of Zakat al Fitr is equivalent to the price of 2.5 kg of grain per person.
Allam stressed the necessity of giving out Zakat al Fitr before Eid prayers to gain its reward and allow the needy to benefit from it.
Zakat al Fitr is a charity paid to the poor from the beginning of the holy fasting month of Ramadan till before Eid prayers.
