CAIRO – 14 April 2022: United Media Services (UNS) emphasized its respect to the nursing profession and nurses’ role in the medical system in a Wednesday statement that comes after criticism to the depiction of a nurse in a comic series.

UMS added that it launched the “white scrubs initiative” during the crisis of Covid-19 to support medical crews in all hospitals.

It also said it respects all regulations to offer content suitable for Egyptians families in the form of social drama and entertainment.

The Nurses Syndicate opened a lawsuit that demands halting “el Kabir awe” sitcom after one of its episodes showed a new wife trying to seduce her husband by pretending to be a nurse but failed utterly.

Egyptian female nurses complain that such representation in the media gives entrenches a negative mental image in the society about their profession. On the ground, a female nurse may suffer from the general idea that doctors and nurses flirt with each other, especially during overnight shifts.

Generally, a woman spending the night out, even at work, is frowned upon in Egypt, which only increases public speculations about their activities.
