CAIRO – 6 April 2022: A total of 696 families have received furnished apartments in Ard al-Khalaya (cavalry land) housing project in southern Cairo, near the area from which they were evacuated earlier.
Deputy Cairo Governor Jihan Abdel Moneim said Wednesday that the families were evacuated from 229 buildings in unplanned areas adjacent to the historic Magra al-Oyoun Fence in Gayara (lime kiln), Housh al-Ghagar (gypsy ground), and Sukar wa Lamun (Lemonade).
The area around Magra al-Oyoun in Old Cairo will also be renovated in a fashion suitable for the Mamluk era.
Ard al-Khayala hosts 42 apartment blocks, a school, a police station, and ambulance station, a post office, a public park, and roads of 60,000 meters.
