CAIRO – 6 April 2022: The 1987 Nasser Institute, a massive medical facility in Cairo, will be renovated into an “integrated medical city,” Acting Minister of Health Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said Monday.
The statement came after a meeting with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, where they agreed to increase the capacity of the hospital and improve its infrastructure sustainably.
New buildings will be attached to the compound for internal medicine, pediatrics, outpatient clinics, genetic disease research center and laboratory, as well as a helipad and a river ambulance service, as the hospital overlooks the Nile.
The oncology building will also be expanded, while an entire building will be dedicated to one-day operations. A conference hall and rooms for resident doctors will also be available.
