CAIRO – 4 April 2022: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi followed up on Monday on the executive status of the establishment of the unified national network for emergency and public safety.

This comes as Sisi met with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Minister of Defense Mohamed Zaki, Head of the General Intelligence Service (GIS) Abbas Kamel, and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel Ghaffar.

Also, Minister of Local Development Mahmoud Shaarawi, Minister of Interior Mahmoud Tawfik, Minister of Communications Amr Talaat, and Port Said Governor Adel Al-Ghadban attended the meeting.

The president reviewed the developments regarding the establishment of the national unified emergency network in some governorates in preparation for the generalization of this system nationwide.

This comes through linking all emergency elements and vital facilities, such as ambulance and health care bodies, the petroleum and electricity sectors, emergency services, and traffic and civil protection through a main center and a specialized operations chamber in each governorate.

The meeting reviewed the coordination efforts between the concerned authorities in order to make the best use of the implementation of this integrated system through achieving the instantaneous ability and immediate dealing with crises and emergency events as well as controlling and ending them.

The President directed coordination and harmony between all concerned authorities in the country in order to ensure the optimal operation of this integrated system and to achieve its main objectives.

The unified national emergency network is set to serve as the backbone of the state agencies for the emergency response services through ensuring a speedy response in controlling the various emergency calls.

Last year, the President ordered continuing assessing the results of the trial run of the system in Port Said to devise the best national model for providing emergency response services to citizens.

In January, Egypt’s Minister of Local development Mahmoud Shaarawy said the first phase of the system will be launched in the five governorates of Ismailia, South Sinai, Port Said, Suez and Luxor.
