CAIRO – 2 April 2022: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi urged completing the preparations of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) located in Giza in a way that reflects the greatness and uniqueness of the ancient Egyptian civilization.

In a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled El Anany and a group of officials, Sisi called for raising the efficiency of all institutions and buildings surrounding the museum.

This should be carried out in a way that copes with the importance of GEM as the largest museum in the world and a cultural icon for humanity, Sisi affirmed.

The entire world is highly anticipating the official launch of the Grand Egyptian Museum, which is expected to be inaugurated later this year.

The Grand Egyptian Museum will house more than 50,000 artifacts including all the personal holdings of the Golden King Tutankhamun, all gathered for the first time in one place.

In addition, visitors will enjoy numerous displays for the first time in Egypt and the world, including the Great Staircase, the Hanging Obelisk, Khufu’s 2nd Solar Ship, and more.

The grand museum, currently under construction is located only two kilometers away from the Giza pyramid complex and is the largest archaeological museum worldwide. The museum lies over an area of around 500,000 square meters.
