Saturday marks 1st day of Ramadan in Egypt, Dar al Iftaa

CAIRO – 1 April 2022:  Egypt's Grand Mufti Shawqi Allam said that Saturday, April 2, will mark the first day of the Muslim holy fasting month of Ramadan.

Allam announced in a statement Friday that teams of Dar al Iftaa's Sharia and astronomical committees nationwide spotted the crescent moon of Ramadan, the ninth month on the Islamic lunar calendar this evening, which means that Friday is the last day of the month of Shaaban and Saturday is the first day of Ramadan.

Allam greeted President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the Egyptian people and Arab and Islamic nations on that great occasion, hoping that security and stability will prevail in Egypt and all over the Arab and Muslim worlds.

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, greeted Egyptians, Arab nations on Friday on the occasion of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.

On his social media accounts, the president extended Ramadan greetings, wishing peace, security, stability and prosperity for Egypt, as well as Arab and Muslim nations.

“I extend my warmest congratulations to the Egyptian people and the Islamic nation on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, may God bring it back to us and all humanity with goodness and blessings. May God protect Egypt and its people”, President Abdel Fattah al Sisi
