CAIRO – 30 March 2022: The Egyptian Foreign Ministry “fully condemned” on Wednesday all violence and terrorism targeting civilians, which only leads to further deterioration of the situation between the Palestinians and the Israelis.

The statement comes after five people were fatally shot by a Palestinian in an urtla-Orthodox area of Tel-Aviv, where the attacker was later killed by police.

The spokesperson of the ministry said in a statement that Egypt “completely rejects all forms of violence and terrorism,” emphasizing that efforts must be exerted to “maintain calm between the Palestinian and Israeli sides and prevent slipping into a vicious cycle of violence, undermining stability in the region.”

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas also condemned the attacks, saying that “killing Palestinian and Israeli civilians only leads to more deterioration,” adding that this incident should not be a justification to attack the Palestinians “at the hands of settlers or others.”

He also said that the cycle of violence means that permanent, comprehensive and fair peace is the shortest path towards security and stability for the Palestinian and Israeli people, as well as the region.
