CAIRO – 20 March 2022: In Pakistan, the fourth stop of his Asian tour, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, on Sunday, met with Pakistani Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi to discuss means to strengthen bilateral relations in various fields, in addition to regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Both Ministers discussed the positive developments in bilateral relations between Egypt and Pakistan during 2021, which was reflected in the Pakistani Foreign Minister’s visit to Egypt in February 2021, and the holding of the ninth round of political consultations between the two countries in Cairo in March 2021, said Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ahmed Hafez in a statement.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister affirmed Egypt’s keenness to advance the fields of bilateral cooperation at all levels to achieve the aspirations of the two friendly peoples, and enhance the ability of Egypt and Pakistan to confront common challenges.
The two sides expressed their aspiration to continue close communication and exchange visits at all different levels.
Minister Shoukry also expressed appreciation to Pakistan for hosting of the 48th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), scheduled to be held in Islamabad on March 22-23.
Shourky arrived in Pakistan on Sunday morning and was received by Sheikh Tahir Ashrafi Advisor to the Pakistani Prime Minister on Religious Harmony and the Middle East.
Last week, Shoukry embarked on an Asian tour that includes stops in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesian and Pakistan.
